Linux Mint messed up the partition table so bad I couldn’t boot into a live CD anymore. Ended up ghosting another drive to this computer, had to upgrade from ubuntu 8.10 to 11.10. When I reached 11.10, everything started to mess up. As a coping strategy, I started grub with a match (just pressed the escape key with a match and selected the recovery option). Then I ran the command “init 5″ and then I got this:

I immediately became fascinated with the design and pattern. This wasn’t just your typical kernal panic, this was hours of mundane upgrading to get to the point where the system became so corrupted that this image was frozen onto the screen. So I took some pictures, and used the pattern to re-design the background from the last image:
